NEW TO OUR CHURCH?

Welcome Message from our Pastor

Jesus said: “Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.” – Matthew 10:40

Epiphany Episcopal Church is located in the heart of the Kaimuki neighborhood of Honolulu.  From its inception, the church has been an ethnically diverse community, gathering together to know and celebrate Christ in the Episcopal tradition.  We gather in worship, education and fellowship by sharing the Good News in word and action, and by seeking and serving Christ in all.  Wherever you are in your journey of faith, even if you have never been to church before, please join us this Sunday!  You are welcome at Epiphany Church!
What to Expect
For those of you who are new to Epiphany a warm welcome and aloha!  The following information may be helpful to you.

  • As an Episcopal Church, our worship service includes hymns and songs, readings from Holy Scripture, a sermon, prayers and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, where we experience Jesus present with us in bread and wine.
  • Everything you need to participate in the service is included in the service bulletin or in the Book of Common Prayer or the hymnal in your seat. We also have an announcements insert giving news, a prayer list and other information for the community. We encourage you to participate as fully and actively as you feel comfortable.
  • We strive to worship together as a community of people of all ages. Infants and children are always welcome. Restrooms are next to the Parish Hall and there is a baby changing station if your child needs a diaper change. For children who might need a little extra wiggle room during the service, we have created kid-friendly space in church equipped with soft toys and excellent books.
  • Our building is accessible to people with disabilities.
  • Join us for hospitality. After church, the meal and fellowship that we shared at the altar continues with hospitality in the Parish Hall. Please join us!
Becoming Part of Our Community
If you are new, you might be wondering about how you might become more of a part of our community.  Besides the many ministry opportunities, you can:

  • Attend our Sunday worship service. Worship is crucial to our faith, and everything else we do as a community begins here.
  • Join us after church for our Hospitality Hour. We appreciate food at Epiphany, and we spend a lot of our time eating together. It’s a good way to get to know us better.
  • Meet our priest, Kahu Irene Tanabe, who would like to learn more about your story, and help you get to know Epiphany Church better.
  • Sign up for something small, such as helping out with hospitality. This is a good way to enter into the life of our community and meet other people.
  • Sign up for our newsletter which comes out four times a year.  This can be done on the Contact Us page through the web form.  The newsletter will give you information on events and people in our church.
